Project Description:
The Gold Coast Light Rail Stage 3 project extends the existing tram network by 6.7km from Broadbeach South to Burleigh Heads, delivering critical public transport infrastructure to one of Australia’s fastest-growing regions. The dual track system will run along the centre of the Gold Coast Highway, featuring eight new stations, five additional trams, and retained traffic lanes on either side of the tracks.
This $1.2 billion project is designed to reduce travel times, improve network efficiency, ease congestion, and support the economic and social growth of the Gold Coast over the next two decades. The extension will connect communities to essential services, education, jobs, shopping, and entertainment hubs, reinforcing the city’s reputation as a world-class destination.
Our Role:
Construction Sciences was awarded the construction materials testing contract for the Gold Coast Light Rail Stage 3 project. The Gold Coast (Molendinar) Laboratory team will manage the testing of concrete materials and earthworks throughout the construction phase, ensuring quality and compliance with project standards.
