Project Description:
The Airside Civil and Pavement (ACP) works package at Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport encompasses the design and construction of airside services and utilities, critical to the airport’s infrastructure.
The scope includes the runway and taxiway pavements, aircraft pavement markings, airside roads, surface water drainage, aeronautical ground lighting systems, airside security fencing, and landscaping. The project also involves constructing a 3.7-kilometre runway with access and exit taxiways, including four rapid exit taxiways (RET) pavements, parallel taxiways, and an aircraft isolation pad.
The ACP package represents a critical step in the development of Western Sydney International Airport, supporting its position as Australia’s most advanced aviation hub. It is aligned with the airport’s broader sustainability goals, incorporating innovative design solutions to minimize environmental impact and ensure operational excellence.
Our Role:
Construction Sciences was awarded the Construction Materials Testing contract for the Airside Civil and Pavement Works, establishing an onsite annex laboratory supported by our Glendenning laboratory. Our testing services focus on the critical materials used in constructing the runway, taxiways, drainage systems, and other airside infrastructure, ensuring their durability and performance meet the high standards required for this significant aviation project.
