Project Description:

The Beerburrum to Nambour (B2N) Rail Upgrade (Stage 1) will increase the capacity and reliability of the North Coast Line, enabling more efficient travel and improved passenger and freight connections.

Stage 1 of the Department of Transport and Main Roads will duplicate the section of rail track between Beerburrum and Beerwah (approximately 12km), expand three park ‘n’ ride facilities, and upgrade road infrastructure to improve safety and integration with the transport network.

Stage 1 also removes level crossings and will create new shared pathways for improved rail and road safety, community connectivity and traffic flow.

Our Role:

Construction Sciences was awarded the construction materials testing contract for Stage 1 of the B2N Rail Upgrade, being delivered by Principal Contractor John Holland Seymour Whyte Joint Venture. Managed from the Sunshine Coast Laboratory, our services support earthworks, structures, and pavement construction through verification of subgrade conditions, compaction control, aggregate and concrete testing, field density testing, and laboratory conformance testing.

Our team is providing ongoing site-based and laboratory-based testing to support production schedules of the project, maintaining quality and compliance requirements throughout the delivery of this key transport corridor upgrade.
