Project Description:

Black Rock Motor Resort is being developed on a 252-hectare site at Wakefield on the former Rhondda Colliery mine in the Lake Macquarie region. The resort is positioned as Australia’s first luxury motorsport precinct, centred around a 5.25-kilometre circuit designed by the internationally renowned Tilke Group, the firm responsible for landmark racetracks including the Yas Marina Circuit, Circuit of the Americas, and the Red Bull Ring.

Once complete, the precinct will host corporate driving events, performance car driving experiences, public track days, and driver training courses, alongside luxury accommodation, a go-kart track, function centre, and café. The development represents a significant rehabilitation of a former mining site into a high-profile tourism and motorsport destination for the Hunter region.

Our Role:

Construction Sciences Newcastle Laboratory was awarded concrete and soil testing services for the Black Rock Motor Resort project for the duration of construction. The team is providing field density testing, compaction control, and laboratory conformance testing across bulk earthworks, alongside concrete strength and conformance testing supporting the circuit pavement, structures, and supporting buildings.
