Construction Sciences provides independent, NATA-accredited foamed bitumen testing and trial mix services to verify mix performance, optimise binder content and ensure compliance with project specifications.
Foamed bitumen stabilisation (FBS) is an increasingly adopted pavement solution to enhance durability and reduce maintenance for road infrastructure projects. FBS blends foamed bitumen with existing or recycled materials to create a flexible, moisture-resistant pavement layer suitable for both new road construction and rehabilitation works.
Construction Sciences is one of a limited laboratories NATA accredited for TMR (QT methods) and AGPT (Austroads) methods required for FBS modulus testing. We receive bulk samples from clients nationally and run batch trials in our dedicated foamed bitumen laboratory. Our team consults with clients throughout the process, making data-driven mix adjustments and ensuring optimal performance before field application.
FOAMED BITUMEN STABILISATION
Our team supports clients’ foamed bitumen stabilisation projects from early-stage batch trials through to production validation, working closely with designers, contractors, consultants and asset owners and tailor testing programs based on specific road performance requirements. This includes:
- Resilient modulus testing (lab mixed and field mixed)
- Foaming characteristics for bitumen
- Laboratory mixed trials
- Binder content optimisation
- Strength, stiffness and blend validation
