Toowoomba Second Range Crossing (TSRC)

Client/s: Nexus and Holcim

Location: Downs South West

Services: Geotech Engineering, Environmental Consulting & CMT

Construction Sciences Unit:
CALS, Professional Services, South East QLD CM

Project Description:

The Toowoomba Second Range Crossing (TSRC) will provide
a 41km alternate route for heavy vehicles around the north of Toowoomba. The benefits of this passage will include increased driver safety, reduced travel times and improved liveability in local areas.

Our Role:

Construction Sciences established a large central site laboratory covering soils and aggregates for Nexus and concrete testing for Holcim. In addition to the central laboratory, two compaction facilities at the East and West ends of the project were set up, to improve serviceability and access to the 41km project.

In addition, Construction Sciences managed a very large program of Geotechnical instrumentation installation and monitoring. Efficiencies were found in utilising the onsite technicians to assist
with the Geotechnical monitoring, resulting in cost savings that were passed on to the client.
