The Power of Pink

To raise awareness and generate donations for the Cancer Council’s Pink Ribbon Day, the Construction Sciences Head Office staff hosted a pink morning tea.

Our staff donned their very best pink clothes, enjoyed pink cupcakes and sandwiches and donated to this excellent cause.

Cancer Council’s Pink Ribbon campaign aims to raise awareness about breast and gynaecological cancers, as well as raise funds for prevention programs, support services and vital cancer research. Funds raised help provide lifesaving research, prevention programs and support services for those affected by all breast and gynaecological cancers.

1 in 7 women is diagnosed with breast cancer during their lifetimes.

There is, unfortunately, a high likelihood that you or someone you love will experience this disease at some point in your lives.

The Sobering Facts

  • Every day in Australia, 65 women are told they have breast or a gynaecological cancer.
  • Every year in Queensland, 4,200 women are diagnosed with breast or gynaecological cancer.
  • In 2022, it’s estimated that 3,214 people will die from breast cancer in Australia – of this number, 3,178 will be women and 36 will be men.

But there is hope.

If you’d like to show your support, you can still donate here.
