Construction Sciences Supports Barra Bash and Wins the Trophy

Construction Sciences was a proud sponsor of the TGFC x Mike Carney Group Barra Bash 2026, and one of our own came home with the biggest fish of the tournament.

Congratulations to Peter Gode, Area Manager North Qld and NT, who won the Overall Biggest Barramundi with a 104cm fish, taking out the most coveted award on the card. He backed it up by winning the Biggest Mangrove Jack category with a 43cm catch.

Now in its 15th year, the Barra Bash is one of the most anticipated events on the Queensland fishing calendar. Run by the Townsville Game Fishing Club and based at Lucinda on the Hinchinbrook Channel, the 2026 tournament ran from 22 to 25 July and drew more than 136 anglers across 52 teams, all chasing the best and most consistent barramundi fishing on Australia’s east coast.

The competition runs on a catch, measure, photograph and release format. Teams nominate their largest ten barramundi across two fishing days, scoring one point per centimetre, with every fish photographed on a brag mat and returned to the water. Artificial lures only, one rod at a time.

Construction Sciences supported the event as a sponsor of tournament check in and the opening night BBQ dinner at Lucinda Cove Resort.
